Heartlines

Standard

How beautiful your flaws are to me
Lovely, the scars cleaved by time
I will line your mistakes with gold, my love
No need to hide
I adore your golden threads
As they illuminate
What once lay shattered
Taste and savor the perfection
Of every moment
Don’t dwell in what was
Give no thought to what will be
One breath to the next is all we have
Not even that is a promise
And so our mended brokenness
Shall brightly glow
Come darling
Etch your own line of gold
Into the ivory of my skin
Add your own song
To the chorus of my sin.

That Stirring Night

Standard

Nothing Gold Can Stay

You asked
“What are your thoughts”
As I was lying in the grass
I looked upon stars flying in the night
I didn’t answer
For my sacred thoughts are my own
I don’t give them freely
Besides
You’d never understand
The monster
Stirring inside of me
This restless rage
I hide from you
This desire
To be everywhere
Do everything
It oozes
Seeps
From green eyes
And ivory pores
As I watch the stars
I say nothing
As it requires all my strength
To rein myself in
And pack myself nicely inside
The box that better suits you
You won’t see me
You never do.

Pieces of Me

Standard

“I may
Fall apart
But I will
Never
Lose the pieces.
I will always
See
The picture
That they
Create,
And my hands
Bloody
Cracked,
Trembling,
And tired,
Will never stop
Fumbling
To put them
Back
Together.”

You’d never guess
The shards
That reside
Inside
The curve of my hip
And cheek
So many broken
Pieces
Eased together
Through silken duress.

Consumed

Standard

Raise arms and shout
Would I burst
Into a million lighted pieces
Or curl within myself
Into infinity?

Do everything
Be everyone

I could consume the world
One syrupy gulp at a time
All the bitter with the sweet
Running down fingers…
And cheek

Taste and savor
The intensity of my love
As we roll on moss strewn earth
Let laughter catch the tangles of my hair
And happiness be the dew on my toes.
